Has your home, barn or building become unlevel or shifted? Tell tale signs of these problems can be uneven, sloping, bulging walls and floors. Cracks appearing in plaster and tile. Doors and windows become out of level and begin sticking, not closing properly. Stair cases and counter tops become out of level. Bouncing and bellied floors are noticeable. Beams and other structural members become stressed and compromised causing structural problems. |
These symptoms appear above the basement and usually can be solved in the basement during the jacking and leveling process. M. J. Murphy Structural specializes in all aspects of jacking and leveling and structural repairs to any home, barn or building. |
The jacking and leveling process includes the setting of temporary building jacks (not adjustable columns) at proper load points. (Extremely important) The amount of building jacks set at the proper load points, secondary load points, along with other factors will determine the effectiveness of leveling your house, barn or building. |
Once the jacking and leveling is complete, replacement or shimming of existing columns will be done, in some instances additional columns and footings are installed if necessary. If the outside wall is jacked and leveled then the space between the foundation and existing sill plate must be filled. This is done with cement or additional pressure treated sills. |
