Most common forms of sill damage occur from termites, carpenter ants and moisture problems. Sills in older colonial homes and barns tend to be at or just above grade, making them susceptible to decay. Newer homes can also experience these problems. Since sills tend to rot from the outside in and may look fine from the basement, when in reality their not! |

Beams also suffer from the above types of damages. Beams also experience problems relating to inadequate column spacing and beam under sizing, which can lead to beam deflection and cracking. This can cause sagging walls and floors. |

We provide all necessary jacking and shoring in sill replacement, beam replacement and other structural repairs. We replace sills and install sheathing and siding which was removed. In some instances we install copper termite barriers. |
M J Murphy Structural replaces beams with timber stock, LVL’s, Microlams or steel. In some instances we can sister beams with steel or LVL’s. If you would like to create a more open floor plan in your home we can remove load bearing walls and install engineered beams in their place.
